Precision Cutting Components

Diamond Stylus & Record Blanks

Precision tools and cutting materials for people who actually make records. Built for professional lathe operators and independent cutters who demand consistency at the point where sound meets surface.

A recording stylus is not a playback needle — it is the instrument that cuts the groove itself. Geometry, polish, material choice, and mounting stability directly influence groove integrity, surface noise, and high-frequency response.

Paired with properly manufactured record blanks, a precision stylus allows audio to be carved directly into the disc in real time — eliminating molds and enabling true short-run or one-off production workflows.

These components form the mechanical foundation of reliable disc manufacturing.

What is the A145?

The A145 is AccuPoint’s short-shank diamond recording stylus. Its compact shank design is intended for compatible cutter heads and stylus assemblies that require a shorter mounting profile while maintaining precise groove geometry and effective chip evacuation.

What materials can it cut?

The A145 is commonly used for cutting PETG, polycarbonate, and other compatible disc-recording materials. Results depend on the cutting system, material formulation, stylus temperature, cutting angle, groove depth, chip suction, and operator technique.

How polished is the diamond?

Each diamond is finished with a sub-micron polish. A highly polished cutting surface helps reduce friction, supports cleaner groove formation, improves chip flow, and may contribute to longer stylus life when the stylus is installed and operated correctly.

Does it include a heat wire?

Yes. The A145 includes a professionally installed heat wire for integration with a compatible stylus-heating system. The installer is responsible for confirming the correct connection method and operating settings for their cutting system.

Is the A145 compatible with every cutter head?

No. Cutter heads and stylus holders may use different shank lengths, mounting geometries, heating arrangements, and operating angles. Compatibility with the purchaser’s cutter head, stylus holder, amplifier, heating system, and recording lathe is the purchaser’s responsibility.

How long will the stylus last?

Stylus life cannot be guaranteed by a fixed number of hours. Wear depends on the recording material, groove depth, cutting pressure, stylus heat, suction, head alignment, contamination, handling, and operator technique. Incorrect installation or operation can damage a stylus immediately.

What is included?

Each order includes one AccuPoint A145 diamond recording stylus with its pre-installed heat wire. Unless specifically stated elsewhere in the product listing, cutter heads, stylus holders, heating power supplies, suction equipment, and installation tools are not included.

A145 Re-Sharpening Exchange Program

Our re-sharpening service operates as an exchange program. We accept only genuine AccuPoint A145 diamond recording styli for this program.

When you submit an eligible used AccuPoint A145, you may purchase a previously used AccuPoint A145 that has been professionally reconditioned and freshly sharpened.

This is not a repair-and-return service. The stylus you receive will not necessarily be the same physical stylus that you submitted. Submitted eligible styli become part of the A145 exchange inventory and are not individually reserved for return to their original owners.

Styli from other manufacturers and other AccuPoint models are not accepted. Modified, incomplete, severely damaged, or non-genuine styli may be rejected after inspection.

If a submitted stylus is determined to be unsuitable for the exchange program, the customer may pay the applicable shipping charge to have it returned or authorize Lathe Cut Vinyl Records to dispose of it. We do not pay return shipping for rejected styli.
