What is PETG VR?
PETG VR is our specialized virgin-resin black PETG developed for
diamond stylus record cutting, test cuts, dubplates, and short-run
lathe-cut record production.
Why is the swarf white?
PETG VR is manufactured from virgin PETG resin. Although the finished
record blank is black, the swarf removed by the diamond stylus is white.
What is the surface finish?
Every blank features a smooth, mirror-finish cutting surface with no
grooves or labels, ready for professional diamond stylus cutting.
How does PETG VR sound?
PETG VR is selected for a lower noise floor than standard PETG,
helping produce cleaner playback and more dependable lathe-cut results.
Why does flatness matter?
Consistent flatness helps maintain stable groove depth, predictable
cutting performance, and consistent playback across the record surface.
Why does material quality matter?
Material consistency affects groove quality, chip formation, surface
noise, and overall cutting performance. PETG VR is made from
high-quality virgin PETG resin selected for diamond cutting.
Can PETG VR help diamond life?
PETG VR is designed to promote clean chip formation and consistent
cutting, helping reduce unnecessary wear and support longer diamond
stylus life.
What sizes are available?
PETG VR Black blanks are available in 7", 10", and 12" formats.
Our 7" blanks are available with either a standard small center hole
or a large jukebox-style center hole.
Do you offer custom sizes and shapes?
Yes. Custom record sizes, specialty shapes, CNC machining, and
engraving services are available upon request.
Why are the blanks CNC manufactured?
CNC manufacturing provides consistent dimensions, clean edges,
dependable flatness, and repeatable results without the heat-affected
edges associated with laser cutting.
Do the blanks have protective film?
Yes. Each blank includes an easy-peel protective film to help prevent
scratches during manufacturing, storage, shipping, and handling.
Who manufactures PETG VR?
Every PETG VR blank is precision CNC manufactured, finished, and
inspected by LatheCutVinylRecords.com in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
What styli do you recommend?
PETG VR is designed to pair with our AccuPoint diamond recording
styli using proper stylus heat, suction, rake angle, and cutting
geometry.
How are the blanks shipped?
Blanks ship flat in protective packaging to help prevent warping,
scratches, and edge damage during transit.
