Recording Studio — Grand Rapids, Michigan

CONTROLLED • DISCIPLINED • RELEASE-FOCUSED

Lathe Cut Vinyl Records operates a professional recording facility built on the same production standards trusted by artists nationwide. Designed to support creators at the most critical stage of any release — recording — the environment prioritizes signal accuracy, efficient tracking, and performance-focused capture.

Select sessions pair a Sony C800G signal path with the controlled acoustic environment of a StudioBricks One Plus VO Edition isolation booth, supporting low-noise capture, vocal precision, and repeatable recording conditions. Integrated into a signal chain engineered for clarity and consistency, the space is well suited for critical tracking applications — from detailed vocal work to specialized workflows such as reel-to-reel and direct-to-disc recording.

Session Requests

Studio Sessions

Our studio operates on a limited-session basis to ensure every project receives the preparation, technical oversight, and focused attention it deserves.

How to Book

Artists may request a session by contacting info@lathecutvinylrecords.com . Please include basic project details such as scope, timeline, and any intended release format.

Availability

Session availability, production timelines, and studio rates are provided after project review. Because we prioritize active production work, recording sessions are scheduled selectively.

Early contact is recommended if you are working toward a release date.

Direct-to-Disc

Direct-To-Disc Recording

Direct-to-disc is a performance-based recording format in which audio is captured live and cut directly to vinyl in real time. With no opportunity for editing or post-production correction, the process preserves the immediacy, discipline, and energy of a true performance.

Session Approach

Sessions are intentionally structured around focused arrangements and minimal microphone configurations rather than complex live mixing. The emphasis remains where it belongs — on musicianship, preparation, and execution.

Performance Takes

Sessions are typically organized around three performance takes, giving artists multiple opportunities to capture a definitive version while maintaining the integrity of the format. Additional takes may be scheduled as availability permits.

Is Direct-To-Disc Right For Every Artist?

Direct-to-disc recording rewards preparation and is best suited for artists ready to deliver a complete, performance-level take.

Because the recording and cutting occur simultaneously, session readiness is essential.

Session Preparation

Session Preparation

Successful recording sessions begin long before the artist enters the studio. Clients are encouraged to arrive with material fully rehearsed, arrangements finalized, and creative direction clearly defined.

Preparation keeps sessions focused, efficient, and creatively productive — allowing studio time to be spent capturing performances rather than building them from scratch.

Artists who approach recording with intention consistently achieve the strongest results.

Studio time is most effective when momentum already exists before the session begins.

Studio Access

Studio Access

The studio operates within a private production facility and may present accessibility limitations for some guests.

If you have specific access requirements, we encourage contacting us in advance so we can provide the most accurate guidance and plan accordingly.
